We are delighted to welcome you to Temple Mill Primary School which became part of the Howard Academy Trust in 2015. The continuing upward trends of end of key stage results reflects the hard work and commitment of our experienced and settled staff working in partnership with governors, pupils and parents.
We are a single form entry school with its own onsite Nursery. There are 8 classes in school, from Nursery to Year 6, we have over 200 pupils on roll from Year R to Year 6 and over 30 children access the nursery provision, either full time or part time.
Studybugs for Parents and Carers
A better, safer way to report when your child is sick and off school. With a few quick taps or clicks, you can give your child’s school all they need to record absence due to illness.
We are committed to the all-round development of our pupils and this is reflected through our continuing hard work on developing and enhancing our curriculum. We also source and utilise specialist teachers to enhance our provision, such as in Spanish, music and PE.
We aim to develop happy, resilient and responsible individuals who are given the opportunity to reach their full potential. We have strived to create a nurturing and supportive atmosphere where every pupil is supported to achieve their best. We believe strongly in the importance of a close working relationship between home and school to aid and support pupils’ progress.

World Book Day was a great success, with lots going on! The children and staff arrived in their cosies, carrying their favourite books to share. Our whole school book was Flooded by Mariajo Ilustrajo. Each class read the story and then undertook activities inspired by the book. Some classes took a drama or art focus, some classes created their own versions of the story in the style of the book, and some wrote newspaper reports. Year 5 managed to produce some wonderful woven art works, depicting the rising waters. After lunch, lots of the adults went out onto the playground with a book or two and the children were able to choose an adult to have a story time with. The children got to spend time with a different adult in a mix of children from different classes. Everyone enjoyed it so much we have decided to do it as a termly event!
Mr Patey and his team have also been busy, clearing leaves, creating beds and painting sheds to make the front garden look fabulous. The sunflowers are planted and he and his team have even found time to paint a bench purple! Don't forget, Mr Patey and the children would love donations of plants, seeds or pots so they can get the garden blooming – if you have any to spare, please send them in!
This week in EYFS, the children made the most of the warm weather by setting up dens, a gardening area, and a fun camping site! They worked together to build a pretend campfire, using their imagination and teamwork to "cook" marshmallows, grill sausages, and make delicious hot chocolate. Such wonderful learning opportunities while enjoying the great outdoors!
Butterfly Class has had a fantastic start to the term, eagerly sharing some of the 'Dip and Do' activities they started at home as part of our growing project. They have been growing cress seeds and carefully logging each stage as they watch them sprout and grow!
